Travel back in time to the Paleolithic and Jomon periods! A museum where you can play and learn
Sasebo is the best city in Japan for cave sites. Fukui Cave is a Palaeolithic to Jomon-era site in the town of Yoshii, Sasebo, and is considered historically significant for understanding the changes in cave life and culture. The museum exhibits many artifacts discovered during the Showa and Heisei excavations, designated as important cultural assets by the national government. The museum features a full-size diorama of the Fukui Cave using strata taken from the excavation site, an exhibition of excavated artifacts, and a hands-on corner for experiencing ancient technology. After exploring the museum, you can rent a bike and visit the Fukui Cave in person.
